No-exam life insurance
Who gets approved for accelerated underwriting, how the process works, and what to expect if you do not qualify for it.
Many carriers now use accelerated underwriting: for applicants in certain age and amount ranges, they decide using application answers, prescription history, driving records, and other sources instead of a physical exam. Some decisions arrive the same day. Each quote on this site notes whether an exam is required, possibly required, or not required.
What it changes
Accelerated underwriting does not skip underwriting itself. Your answers are verified against available records. A policy issued on false information can be contested for up to two years. If your records raise questions, the carrier may still request an exam or lab work.
Who tends to qualify
Usually people under 60, applying for amounts within the carrier's accelerated limits, with no serious health history and no tobacco use for at least a year. Recent blood work from your doctor can sometimes substitute for an exam.
If an exam is needed, it is typically a 20- to 30-minute visit at your home or workplace in the West Covina area, at no cost to you. Positive health test results can improve your rate class, so an exam is not always a disadvantage.
